The Heritage Quilters’ Guild strives to give back to our communities
by helping area organizations who help others.
Within Heritage Quilters, we have the “Comfort Quilts and Things” committee which organizes the construction of quilts and things for organizations and individuals who are in need of comfort. The “Comfort Quilts and Things” are made by the wonderful quilters in our Guild and surrounding communities.
Here are some of the ways and organizations we have contributed recently:
Quilts and Pillowcases:
“Kids’ Quilts” (area organizations and individuals), “Indiana Veterans’ Quilts” (Indiana Veterans’ Home in West Lafayette, IN), Hoosier Burn Camp – quilts and pillowcases – approximately 150-200 quilts per year and 75 pillowcases. Beginning in 2012 we will help in providing quilts to Quilts of Valor Foundation through the Indiana Regional Coordinator who is a member of our Guild.
At Christmas time in 2011, pillowcases were also made, filled with personal care items and delivered to St. Jude House (Crown Point), Sandcastle Shelter (Michigan City), Gabriel’s Horn (Valparaiso), Haven House (Hammond), Kids’ Peace (Merrillville), Highland Foundation (Highland) and First Methodist Church of Crown Point.

In October 2012 and 2013, we had a FULL SIZE BATT DRIVE (84″ x 96″ packaged batting)(or larger) in an effort to supplement our dwindling supply. Each member who donated a FULL SIZE (or larger) batting received an opportunity to win a special fall quilting basket of goodies. This generated some large batts which are always needed for the larger quilt tops our quilters donate. REMEMBER, donations are accepted at any time!
Thank You to the Guild Members who donated batting.
